5 things to do to celebrate the arts in Greater Cincinnati this summer


Union Center Food Truck Rally

The rally returns to West Chester on August 13 from 11:30 am to 10:30 pm The event will feature over 40 food trucks, entertainment and more. It will showcase a range of items including barbecue, wings, burgers, desserts and more. Heart-healthy, gluten-free and vegetarian options will also be available. Items are generally made to order. Entrance to the event is free. Food and drink are available for purchase.

2021 Photography and digital art competition and exhibition at the MAC

The competition will open with a preview event on Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and the exhibition will run until August 26. This year’s competition works were submitted in seven categories, including Moving Objects, People, Natural Things, Digital Art, Architecture, Landscapes and Still Life. All categories can include images in color, tones, or black and white. The exhibit will showcase the work of amateur and professional photographers and digital artists, drawing on a wide variety of work by talented artists from the Dayton-Cincinnati area. The show is free and open to the public.

“The takeover of the square”

West Chester’s Thursday Night Summer Concert Series “The Takeover on The Square” will feature weekly concerts through September. August lineup includes Don’t Tell Steve on August 5; Swagg on August 12; The Whammies on August 19 and Zach Attack on August 26. Concerts will be held outdoors Thursday evenings from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. ‘The Takeover’ offers free live music with dinner and dessert options from some of the area’s food trucks and drinks from local craft breweries, DogBerry Brewing and Grainworks Brewing Company as well as the Township of West Chester Distributor , Ohio Eagle Distributing.
