ArtSEA: inside the belly of Seattle’s new Crocodile music club

If you’d rather avoid the vacation hype altogether, fear not. There are plenty of events to keep you entertained with no bell.

SIFF Cinema Uptown makes its grand reopening this weekend, screening a new documentary on the legendary Julia child and the so called gonzo Gucci House, with Lady Gaga.

Rita Colombe take a virtual tour to Seattle Arts and Lectures (December 3, 7:30 p.m.) to mark his first collection in 12 years: Reading list for the Apocalypse, which receives rave reviews for its timely outlook and lush lyrical lines. She will be joined in the conversation by the Seattle Poet Extraordinary Anastacia-Ren̩e Рa combination that will surely arouse literary wonders.

Marsha burns and Robert Wade, To Koplin del Río (until December 4), and Ghost Clothes Garden (To Studio e through December 4, a bright, fresh and fun collection of figurative ceramics from the Seattle artist Emily counts, which celebrates the “intrinsic magic of grandmothers” through women with daring sweaters, firm stances and omniscient eyes.

Erin jorgensen hosts an immersive musical event called Wood: A sound + light experience (2, 4-5 Dec. to Base Experimental Arts Space), which features six percussionists playing tuned 2x4s (yes, like in woodwind) and a changing light display, resulting in what she calls a “DIY laser dome” that will send you into a “sweet audiovisual trance”.
