San Diego City College’s Graphic Design program was recently ranked #6 Best Design Education of 2021-2022 by the World Brand Design Society.

The program has moved up four spots since last year’s awards.

Awards are based on student submissions for various graphic design categories.

Students who have been recognized for their submissions include Luke Meyer, Michael Carreon, Brooke Chantrachuck, Antonio Mustico and Mayra Favela.

The World Brand Society allows student institutions around the world to submit work for presentation and potentially win scholarships.

Assistant professor and program director Sean Bacon described the cohort of graphic designers as a tight-knit group that feels like a family.

“We want to see our students succeed because they work really hard and we want them to get the credit they deserve,” Bacon said.

The program announced the ranking on Instagram and highlighted the importance of City College being an open-access institution to “create equity and representation in our industry.”
