LAIF 2021 Prize: Glo audiovisual productions dominate the prices of the telecoms sector



Creative TV commercials and radio jingles produced by Globacom in 2021 were celebrated at the Lagos Advertising and Ideas Festival 2021, where they won 10 medals, including 5 silver and 5 bronze respectively.

The awards ceremony which celebrates creative excellence was held at the Landmark Event Center in Lagos last week, where Globacom was honored for Creative TV Commercials, Newspaper Advertising, Outdoor Signage and the Best use of digital content and social media.

Globacom won two silver medals at the Press Craft Original Photography award which recognizes the quality of photography used in press advertising and at the Telecom Product Services award. His Children’s Day Press Ad won medal in both categories

The company also won two silver medals for its roaming advertising in LAIF news telecommunications products and services as well as LAIF outdoor telecommunications products and services.

Globacom’s Biker Mechanic, where the power of Glo 4G LTE was demonstrated in the TV commercial by comedian Kelechi Udegbe and actress Eriata Ese won two bronze medals in the Film LAIF Telecom Product and Services and Digital and Mobile LAIF awards Telecom Product and Services. The company also won another bronze medal in the Outdoor LAIF Telecom Product and Services category, with Feed Your Eyes.

Globacom’s Find Your First ad Jay Jay, another medium where the power of Glo 4G was showcased, also won silver and bronze medals. A young boy, after many attempts, managed to connect his father’s hero, Jay Jay Okocha, using the power of Glo 4G to invite him as a surprise guest to his father’s birthday celebration . The ad won silver and bronze medals in the LAIF Telecommunications Products and Services category and the Film Craft Best Use of Digital Content and Social Media categories, respectively.

The President of the Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria (AAAN), Steve Babaeko, said on the occasion that the LAIF Awards are the largest awards platform in the country’s advertising industry, adding that ‘it recognizes and rewards creativity in Nigeria.

Lanre Adisa, chairman of the LAIF Awards board, said the 2021 edition of the awards received more than 350 entries from a total of 21 agencies.

And the awards continued recently in South Africa where Globacom also received the Loeries Craft Certificate, a giant film for cinematography. The award was won by Glo Commercial, “Street Football”, featuring many young footballers who picked a ball in one spot and dribbled through many spots, before ending up at the stadium. There they met their soccer hero, the Nigerian international striker who currently plays for Saudi Arabia’s Al Shabab, Odion Ighalo who appeared on screen beaming with smiles while the youngsters who were too excited to see him all laughed and smiled in excitement.
