Microsoft’s Business-Focused Windows 365 Cloud PC subscription starts at $ 20 / month


What just happened? Microsoft has announced general availability and pricing information for Windows 365 Cloud PC, the subscription service revealed during Microsoft Inspire 2021. Windows 365 brings Microsoft’s operating system to the cloud and allows customers to stream it to n any device connected to the Internet, with a starting price of $ 20 per month per user. The service is launched in two versions: Business and Enterprise, the latter version being intended for large companies with more than 300 users. In addition to Windows 10, Microsoft will also bring Windows 11 to the Cloud PC service when the operating system launches later this year.

Windows 365 Cloud PC is Microsoft’s subscription-based service for the modern hybrid workspace, aimed at bringing the benefits and security of the cloud to small and large businesses. Microsoft recently announcement general availability of Windows 365, as well as pricing information for its Business and Enterprise levels, which differ in terms of functionality and user environment.

Capped at 300 users, the Enterprise version is aimed at small businesses and starts at $ 24 per month per user. It comes with a single virtual core, 2GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, and 12GB of outgoing data. Microsoft will reduce the price of this tier to $ 20 / month / user for companies with Windows Hybrid Benefit, which allows them to apply existing / new licenses at the cost of this cloud service.

Alongside a few other plans, the high-end configuration of the Business version costs $ 162 / month / user ($ 158 with Windows Hybrid Benefit) and comes with eight virtual cores, 32 GB of RAM, 512 GB of storage, and 70 GB of outgoing data.

Windows 365 hardware support varies by device / user’s endpoint

the Enterprise version Windows 365 drops the 300 user limit, allowing large organizations to scale as needed. Enterprise offers the same configurations as the Business variant, but with the latter’s reduced prices as standard.

Businesses will need a Microsoft 365 subscription to access Windows 365 Business, Remarks Mary Jo Foley of ZDNet, while the Enterprise version of the service will require them to meet the following criteria:

  • With Windows Pro terminals: Windows 10 E3 + EMS E3 or Microsoft 365 F3 / E3 / E5 / BP
  • With non-Windows Pro endpoints: Windows VDA E3 + EMS E3 or Microsoft 365 F3 / E3 / F5 / BP
  • Azure subscription

Additionally, Microsoft says the Windows 365 service will allow users to remotely connect to any of their applications, including demanding programs like video editing and graphic design software. It also recommended VM configurations and applications based on user role.
