Background: BBC Media Action, the BBC’s international development organisation, uses the power of media and communication to inform, connect and empower people around the world, helping them shape their own lives. Working with broadcasters, governments, other organizations and donors, BBC Media Action provides information and drives positive change in the areas of governance, health, resilience and humanitarian response. Our work in North Africa covers Tunisia, Algeria and Libya, with our office based in Tunis. Ongoing projects include capacity building for media professionals and communicators in several themes. And the training unit offers several training and capacity building activities to support its projects in North Africa for 2022/2023 and sustain their impacts. Call for trainers: BBC Media Action is looking to hire a pool of trainers available on an ad hoc basis to support training and capacity building activities across North Africa. They will be expected to work closely with the BBC Media Action team under the supervision of the Senior Training Manager, as well as other trainers, mentors and/or facilitators. The role of the trainer will be to  Prepare and ensure the smooth running of the planned training workshops. Either classroom training, on the job, or distance learning. including adapting the content of the training to suit the target group.  Prepare and facilitate mentoring support for trainees during the production period. (After training workshops)  Write training reports that include a description and the extent to which it achieved objectives.  Trainers should also undergo ad-hoc training as part of BBC Media Action core trainings such as Media for Development. In addition to the train-the-trainer workshops facilitated by the Media Action team.  Participate in the process of evaluation and continuous improvement of the approach, as well as in debriefing sessions with the project team  Coordinate with the teams in charge of the logistics of the workshops Contractual arrangement: The trainer hired will have a framework contract -year renewable towing with a maximum number of 100 working days. Expert services will be commissioned on an ad hoc basis. Skills, knowledge and experience required: Trainers applying for this call will need to:  Have previous experience (at least 5 years of experience) in delivering classroom or on-the-job training and mentoring; on one or more of the training topics (listed below).  Have previous experience (at least 3 years of experience) delivering training and mentoring remotely via Skype, Zoom, Teams, etc., 1:1 or in groups.  Have previous experience (at least 5 years of experience) in media production, as a journalist, producer or content creator.  Have a good command of Arabic with good communication skills in English or French.  Have a good understanding of the BBC editorial guidelines.  Be prepared to travel to North African countries. Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Experience:  Previous experience designing classroom or on-the-job training.  Previous experience in training non-journalists (CSOs and NGOs).  Previous experience in designing and writing distance/e-learning content  Previous experience working in North Africa. And understand the local context and current events in the region  Great understanding of media for development Training topics:  Production of multimedia content for online media and social media  Production of audio content (podcast)  Production of content on climate change and related topics  Content production on gender and GBV related topics  Content production for development topics (C4D & M4D)  Content production using smart phones (journalism mobile)  Covering elections and related topics  Reporting on refugee and migration related topics  Facilitating storytelling workshops for journalists  Providing media literacy workshops for non-journalists (CSOs and NGOs )  Offer screenwriting workshops for audiovisual journalists.
