Sumner Group wins award for healthcare campaign


The Sumner Group was recently announced as the winner of the 39th Annual Health Advertising Awards.

The CarolinaEast Hospital campaign won six individual awards in multiple categories for campaigns developed for cardiac care, COVID-19 awareness, and a campaign to encourage elective procedures.

Campaigns included print, outdoor, radio and television. CarolinaEast was recognized in the following categories:

  • Golden Newspaper Advertisement – ​​Newsweek single “World’s Best”
  • Total Bronze Advertising Campaign Cardiac Advertising Campaign
  • Bronze COVID Marketing Campaign COVID-19 Marketing Campaign
  • Merit Total Advertising Campaign Let’s Do It – Optional Procedures

This year, more than 4,400 entries were received, making the awards the largest healthcare advertising awards competition and one of the top 10 of all advertising awards.

Gold medals were awarded to 512 entries, silver awards to 360 entries and bronze awards to 249 entries. The Healthcare Advertising Awards are the oldest, largest and most respected healthcare advertising competition.

A national panel of judges was tasked with reviewing all entries based on creativity, quality, message effectiveness, consumer appeal, graphic design and overall impact.

In addition to CarolinaEast, there were three other award recipients from North Carolina, including Atrium Health-Wake Forest Baptist, Piedmont HealthCare and Charlotte Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat.
