DULUTH — Mobile store Makers Mercantile announced on social media that a brick-and-mortar store will open in the Enger Lofts store in Lincoln Park.
The store will open under the new North & Shore brand name, which is an expanded business model that will also encompass owners Scott and Sara Clifton’s adventure blog and the Makers Mercantile vintage caravan, which will remain mobile.
In the post, the Cliftons wrote that the company’s new brand celebrates the people and places of the North Shore of Lake Superior.
“North & Shore embodies the vision our store has had since the beginning and supports our dreams for the future,” they wrote on social media. “The best is yet to come!”
The opening date for North & Shore at Enger Lofts, 1832 W. Superior St., has yet to be announced.
The Makers Mercantile opened as a physical store in the Spirit Valley neighborhood of Duluth in 2017 before transitioning to a pop-up mobile business a year later. It sells handcrafted art, jewelry, and other products made by artists and makers in northeast Minnesota. The RV is open 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday through Monday at the Cedar Coffee Company in Two Harbors.
Maurices launches a clothing line for tweens
Maurices, based in Duluth, is launching a new clothing line for girls ages 8 to 12 in late March, the clothing company announced in a press release last week.
The clothing line, Evsie, will be available in select Mauritius stores and on maurices.com.
The Evsie style boutique will feature comfy clothes for tweens, including stretch denim pants and jackets, graphic tees, dresses, rompers and other fashion basics.
“Evsie’s evolution was born out of market research showing that our customers truly want the same fashionable, age-appropriate, budget-conscious choices for their daughters,” said David Kornberg, CEO of Maurices, in the press release.
Additionally, Maurices has partnered with Kind Campaign, a non-profit organization that raises awareness of the negative effects of bullying girls against girls. Proceeds from two Evsie t-shirt designs sold from March 20 through May 31 will be donated to Kind Campaign.
