The Spring Arts Festival is happening this weekend in downtown Ocean Springs

OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss. (WLOX) – The weekend is shaping up to be beautiful and what better way to spend it than enjoying the spring outdoors?

The City of Ocean Springs is hosting its 29th annual Spring Arts Festival on March 26-27, 2022. Set among live oaks and surrounded by hundreds of local shops, galleries and restaurants, this festival will feature nearly 200 arts, crafts, vendors herbs and garden.

The free festival will also feature live music and live art presentations on stage. Additionally, the Ocean Springs Art Association and Ocean Springs Fresh Market are co-hosting this event by hosting a series of weekend artist demonstrations and educational sessions.

“You’re going to see a lot of Peter Anderson vendors here and artists, painters, food vendors. This will be a fun family festival that will get the whole family out,” said Cynthia Sutton, executive director of the Ocean Springs Chamber of Commerce.

There will also be several free demonstrations on topics such as beekeeping, glazing, spring planting, paint pouring, kitchen knife techniques, pottery, jewelry making and using local herbs. for food and medicine.

It’s Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

In years past, the Spring Arts Festival has attracted up to 30,000 people to the weekend event. This year, the organizers are expecting an even bigger turnout.

Some streets will be closed to traffic from 4 a.m. on Saturday until 7 p.m. on Sunday.

The following roads will be closed:

  • Washington Avenue (from Interstate 90 to Porter Avenue)
  • Government Street (Washington Avenue to Handy Avenue)
  • Robinson Street (Cash Alley to Church Street)

Parking on private property will not be permitted and parking violations will be strictly enforced.

This event is organized by the Ocean Springs-Main Street-Tourist Board Chamber of Commerce, Ocean Springs Fresh Market, Ocean Springs Art Association and its many sponsors.
