Cultural Connector, Volunteer Coordinator and Gift Shop Manager Joining the Gallery

Mathilde Rohr is the new Cultural Connector.

The Hearth Gallery is delighted to welcome the new member of its team, Mathilde Rohr. She joins us as a cultural connector linking the arts council and the community, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience. Mathilde is an interdisciplinary artist and cultural worker. Originally from France, she graduated from the Department of Fine Arts at Concordia University in Montreal in 2017. Her research revolves around performance, movement-based practices, video, drawing, installation, engraving and writing.

She has been involved in numerous collaborative and community art projects in public spaces and contemporary art venues. After living nomadic in various parts of British Columbia for the past two years, she recently moved to Bowen Island where she looks forward to engaging with the locals and contributing to the arts.

We would also like to welcome Aryana Rayne as Volunteer Coordinator. A resident of Bowen Island for 30 years, Aryana has been instrumental in building community and promoting Bowen as a very special place. Her experience as a registered nurse, community midwife and business administrator positions her well to take on this next chapter of her life as the Volunteer Coordinator for The Hearth.

She has served on three volunteer boards in addition to being the Community Meals Program Coordinator in 2019. She is passionate about arts and culture as essential components of healthy living, while knowing that volunteers are the heart and soul of most communities.
