The NFL has always been a results-driven league, and that’s also true for its teams and players. Especially when the expectations are so high.
This fact puts Zeke in the spotlight.
Welcome to DSP Media’s Daily Blitz in partnership with CowboysSI.com.
Ezekiel Elliott has had a disappointing season in 2020, and the same can be said for the entire Dallas Cowboys club. Elliott failed to hit the 1,000 rushing yard mark for just the second time in his career and is averaging just 4.0 yards per carry, also a career low.
Bleacher Report gave their roster of one player on every NFL team that could disappoint in 2021, and on their roster, Ezekiel Elliott was that player for the Dallas Cowboys.
Their reasoning is based somewhat on its milestone for 2021:
“The bad news is that Elliot endured a lot wear as a pro. He carried the ball 1,413 times in five seasons while catching 241 assists. He also led the league in ground attempts on two occasions. The reality is that Elliott’s performance in 2020 – with and without Prescott – is likely a clear indication of where he is in his career.
Elliott can still be an above average running back. However, an above-average figure does not quite justify the $ 13.7 million cap it should raise in 2021. “
Granted, Zeke’s performance on the pitch has declined over the past two seasons, but is that where he is professionally or can he have a rebounding season? Let’s talk!
